Documentation, Order of Precedence

1. Procurement document as agreed upon between customer and supplier

  • Purchase order (amendments take priority over the original PO)


2. Documentation outlining the customer’s detailed requirements

  • Fabrication drawing, drill detail, read-me file, etc.

3. Electronic files for board design, testing and machining

  • Design & drill files

4. Other documents as specified by the customer and to the extent specified

  • Customer specification if supplied, extraneous customer requirements as displayed on the spreadsheet, industry standards such as for gold plating, solder mask, legend ink, etc.

5. End item performance specification

  • Appropriate IPC 6000 series based on product type
    • 6012- Standard design
    • 6013- Flex design
    • 6015- Multi-chip module (MCM-L)
    • 6016- High Density Interconnect (HDI)
  • Appropriate military standards based on product type (Build to, not Cert to)
    • MIL-PRF-55110- Bare boards
    • MIL-P-50884- Flex boards

6. Acceptability Document

  • IPC-A-600- Bare boards
  • IPC-A-610- Assembled boards
